Mustafa Kemal (Ataturk) and the Modernization of Turkey

Mustafa Kemal or Ataturk modernized Turkey in many different ways. He wanted to make it more secular and change Turkey's "nationality. One way he changed Turkey was by getting rid of the fez. Which was a hat worn that was used by the Turkish to express themselves. He also got the Turkish people to adapt a new language. If you can get someone to convert they're language, (learn how to read, spell, and write all over) you should be able to convince them to do almost anything. Ataturk even got them to change the way they dressed. For example when he abolished the fez he also made them start wearing North American clothes. Mustafa was a very powerful man as you can see.
